Steven Holl will deliver a guest lecture at the School of Architecture, Universidad de Granada, Spain, on March 6, 2024. His lecture “Questions of Perception” revisits the 1994 text he co-authored with Alberto Pérez-Gómez and Juhani Pallasmaa, in which Holl explores the phenomenology of architecture. Incorporating recent projects by Steven Holl Architects realized after the book’s publication, Holl connects new built works with the original concepts of “phenomenal zones.”
Dimitra Tsachrelia will deliver a guest lecture at the School of Architecture, Universidad de Granada, Spain, on March 6, 2024. “Architectonics of Music” is an ongoing inquiry into the intersections between music and architecture, investigating how rhymes and resonances may serve as springboards for new vocabularies and forms for architecture. Both music and architecture are inherently spatial and space-defining endeavors. Music is rooted in inhabiting space through time—acting, in the words of John Cage, “like a house to dwell in.” This discussion will be illustrated through GSAPP student work and built projects by Steven Holl Architects.
