Water, a phenomenological lens. From reflecting pools to the concept of “flow,” water is a recurring medium in Steven Holl’s architecture. SHA's designs often engage water directly, not only for its beauty, but to deepen a site’s experiential dialogue. Many projects use water as a calming and unifying element – water often becomes a mirror of the sky and a harbinger of tranquility, always reminding us of our bond to the larger cycles of nature.
